Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you accept insurance? — Renewed Roots does not accept or bill insurance. This allows for whole‑person, integrative care delivered without the time constraints or limitations often imposed by insurance‑based models. You may request an itemized receipt (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan.
-
Are labs included in your prices? — No. The appointment price is the consult fee. Labs will be ordered with appropriate diagnoses codes to maximize potential insurance coverage. Again, coverage will vary by plan.
-
Do you prescribe hormones? — Yes, an evidence-based conversation will be had with all clients regarding hormonal and non-hormonal options for treatment.
-
Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications? — Yes, an evidence-based conversation will also be had with patients who are both clinically appropriate and interested in GLP-1 use, followed by required education and follow-up.
-
Can you accept my HSA/FSA? — Coming soon.
-
Where do appointments take place? — All visits are virtual for your convenience.
-
Can you see patients anywhere? — You must be an Ohio resident and physically located in Ohio during the appointment.
About Renewed Roots
Julia Hanshaw, MSN, APRN-CNP, AGACNP-BC
Renewed Roots was created to address a gap Julia saw repeatedly in critical care: women living longer, but with declining quality of life. Conditions like Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, frailty, recurrent UTIs, anxiety, depression, auto immune disorders, stroke and misdiagnosed heart disease affect women at higher rates — yet the root causes often begin in midlife and go unrecognized.
A major driver of this disparity is the widespread misunderstanding of women’s midlife as “just hot flashes.” In reality, the natural decline in estrogen affects nearly every system — brain, bone, muscle, heart, breast, and genitourinary health. Most clinicians receive limited training in this area, leaving many women without clear guidance or support.
Renewed Roots exists to change that. Julia uses evidence‑based guidelines from The Menopause Society, The International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health, The Obesity Medicine Association, and The American College of Lifestyle Medicine to understand your history, listen to your symptoms, evaluate labs, and discuss your options. The goal is simple: help you understand what’s happening in your body, know your choices, and feel empowered to decide what’s right for you.
Julia’s approach centers on deep listening, whole‑person assessment, and personalized planning — all designed to help you feel like yourself again while supporting long‑term health.
